Finally, the battery's electrolytes is most significant. Lead-acid batteries use sulfuric acid as their electrolyte conductor and it is tough enough to burn through iron and can generate toxic fumes if not handled appropriately.
This sulfuric acid can be neutralized in two different methods - 1) it can be neutralized with a simple compound which converts it into water. The water is then treated, clarified, and tested before being released into sewers. 2) This comprises a more contemporary recycling procedure. The sulfuric acid is treated and converted into sodium sulfate, an element which is used in laundry detergent, textile manufacturing and others. This particular procedure turns the acid into a something beneficial.
